CSU Do-Gooder Day
Do-Gooder Day has grown into Cleveland State University’s largest spring service day with over 250 participants coming together to go out and give back to the community. More than a dozen projects are offered throughout Greater Cleveland for CSU volunteers. Once again, we are partnering with Business Volunteers Unlimited, or BVU. We are working with them to identify many diverse volunteer opportunities in the Cleveland area throughout the day of Saturday, April 12. Check out the link below for more info!

Congratulations to CSU SHRM Member Olga Nagdaseva!!!
Local student wins Society of Human Resources National Scholarship Many talented students pass through the halls of Universities nationwide on a daily basis. Those who are academically strong, those who are very involved in student organizations and those who take a real interest in what they are learning. It is when one student embodies all of these and goes beyond the University walls that a true leader is made. Olga Nagdaseva of Cleveland State University’s Monte Ahuja College of Business is that student.
A Management and Labor Relations major who graduated in May 2012, Olga is now pursuing her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) also
at CSU. She was very active in the CSU chapter of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) where she served as Secretary. Vickie Gallagher, Faculty Advisor of the CSU chapter of SHRM said, “This title does not do her justice because she handled membership, marketing, meeting agendas, minutes and so much more. She never ceases to amaze me with her energy, initiative and tenacity.” SHRM and Cleveland SHRM have recognized Olga for her outstanding academic achievements and exceptional leadership skills at CSU SHRM.
2012 was a hallmark year for Olga. Not only did she complete her Bachelor’s of Business Administration, in October she was selected among top students from the leading Northeast Ohio colleges and universities as HR Student of the Year at The HR Awards. Later that year, Olga took her talents to the national level by winning the $5,000 Graduate Academic Award and $200 Assurance of Learning (AOL) Scholarship from the national chapter of SHRM. Only four winners of the prestigious SHRM Foundation Graduate Academic Award are chosen from the national pool of SHRM student member applicants. Olga was the first ever CSU student to win the Graduate Academic Award, which is to be used for studying graduate level HR at the institution of her choice. “I am incredibly honored to favorably represent CSU’s Monte Ahuja College of Business at local and national levels. I am hopeful that these awards will not only positively reflect on CSU, but motivate local students to emerge as student leaders,” said Olga.
So what lies ahead for this extremely talented young woman? Academically, Olga plans to complete her MBA in May of 2014 and move on to her JD at Cleveland State University. She plans to remain actively involved with SHRM and will pursue the SHRM Assurance of Learning and Project Management Institute’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certificates. Professionally, Olga is seeking career opportunities as an HR Project Manager where she can apply her international experience, leadership skills and academic excellence to benefit an organization. Ultimately she hopes to apply her passion for human resources and sustainability to improve the Northeast Ohio region and benefit the local business community.
As her former professor, Dr. Tracy Porter said, “Olga stood out from the very first day of class. She was not only dedicated to her studies; she had an ability to connect with fellow students and quickly demonstrated her leadership ability. Her career has just begun.” We could not agree more.
